The reading day at Hoang Van Thu Primary School connected an energetic interactive session with an open reading space full of accessible subjects.
Inviting students into the story through questions
The Hoang Van Thu program opened with a conversation about the value of reading. Short questions and direct responses enabled students to participate in the process of discovery rather than only listening.
Books about the world, science, and English were introduced as tools for independent exploration. Each subject began with something familiar before opening toward a wider horizon.

A large library within the rhythm of the schoolyard
As students moved toward the book areas, the schoolyard became a colorful scene. They browsed in groups, exchanged ideas, and returned to the subjects they enjoyed most.
Placing books in an open setting reduced the distance between children and reading material. Discovery did not have to wait for a formal lesson; curiosity could begin during an ordinary break.

“Curiosity grows quickly when children can see, touch, and choose for themselves.”

Adding a meaningful choice to children’s free time
The event gave students a positive experience of using free time to read, exchange ideas, and investigate. Books became a natural choice alongside the many other forms of entertainment available to children.
Famaca thanks the school for helping turn one morning into a starting point for many discoveries still to come.
