Chi Lang Primary School’s outdoor reading space created a welcoming morning where students explored books, talked together, and passed their enthusiasm from friend to friend.
Beginning with what students wanted to know
The Chi Lang reading day introduced subjects familiar to children, including the natural world, language, and science. Students were invited to see books not only as classroom resources, but as places where everyday questions could be explored.
An open interactive atmosphere encouraged students to participate confidently. Every answer and raised hand represented a small step toward becoming more active learners.

Books moving naturally from one pair of hands to another
In the open reading area, students did not remain isolated. An interesting page drew friends closer, and an unexpected illustration began a new conversation.
These moments revealed an important value of the day: books can create genuine interaction. When children read and respond together, knowledge becomes more vivid and memorable.

“The joy of reading often begins when a friend points us to a wonderful page.”

Helping curiosity continue beyond the event
A successful reading day does not end when the book tables are packed away. What should remain is the feeling that books are approachable and capable of bringing joy into ordinary moments.
Famaca thanks the Chi Lang school leadership and teachers for enabling a connected and deeply human reading experience.
